Number Plate Fitting & Fixings Policy
Last updated: 23 September 2026
This policy applies to all number plates and fixing accessories supplied by Plate Vision Ltd, including magnets, adhesive pads, screws, clips, brackets and holders.
Customer fitting
Unless fitting has been specifically agreed and carried out by Plate Vision Ltd, all plates and accessories are supplied for customer installation.
The customer is responsible for:
- Checking that the chosen fixing method is suitable for their vehicle and plate.
- Following all fitting instructions supplied with the product.
- Ensuring every fitting surface is clean, dry and free from grease, wax, polish and contamination.
- Allowing adhesive products the recommended bonding time before using the vehicle.
- Checking that the plate is secure before driving.
- Regularly inspecting the plate and fixings for movement, damage or deterioration.
Magnetic and removable fixings
Magnetic and removable fixing systems may not be suitable for every vehicle, surface, plate size or driving condition. Correct positioning and surface preparation are essential. Customers must ensure that all magnets have made full contact, are correctly aligned and are holding the plate securely before the vehicle is driven.
If there is any uncertainty about the security or suitability of a magnetic or removable system, a permanent mechanical fixing method should be used instead.
Adhesive pads
Adhesive pads must be applied to clean, dry and suitable surfaces. Customers must follow the recommended bonding time before driving the vehicle. Cold temperatures, moisture, uneven surfaces, dirt, grease, polish and insufficient bonding time can reduce adhesion.
Screws, clips and holders
Before drilling or fitting screws, customers must check for wiring, sensors, cameras and other components behind the mounting area. Plate Vision Ltd is not responsible for damage caused by drilling, overtightening, incorrect positioning or unsuitable customer installation.
Loss or damage after fitting
Plate Vision Ltd cannot accept responsibility for a plate becoming detached, lost or damaged where this results from:
- Incorrect or unsuitable fitting.
- Insufficient surface preparation or bonding time.
- Uneven, curved or contaminated surfaces.
- Incorrect positioning of magnets, pads, screws or clips.
- Failure to check or maintain the fixings.
- Vehicle vibration, impact, modification, misuse or accidental damage.
- Continued use after the plate or fixings have shown signs of movement or deterioration.
Faulty items
If you believe a plate or fixing accessory supplied by Plate Vision Ltd is faulty, stop using it and contact us promptly with your order details and clear photographs. We will review the information provided and offer an appropriate solution where an item is confirmed to be faulty.
This policy does not affect your statutory rights regarding goods that are faulty, incorrectly described or unsuitable for their stated purpose.
Customer responsibility
The vehicle user is responsible for ensuring that any road-legal registration plate remains securely fitted, clearly visible and correctly displayed whenever the vehicle is used on a public road.
If you are unsure how to fit your plate safely, we recommend using a competent professional installer before driving the vehicle.
